WASHINGTON — The New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy has credible reports that Elizabeth Tsurkov, a Non-Resident Fellow with the institute, was kidnapped by an Iranian or Iranian-linked armed group in Iraq in late-March 2023.
Tsurkov, an Israeli-Russian dual national and a Ph.D. candidate at the Political Science Department at Princeton University, is a well-known and talented researcher who has produced a large body of work on the Middle East for U.S. policy institutions. She was in Iraq to carry out doctoral field research for Princeton University.
The New Lines Institute learned of Tsurkov’s kidnapping on Wednesday, March 29. We have since been seeking more information and cooperating with concerned parties seeking her safe release. Our thoughts are with Tsurkov and her family during this difficult time.”
